Schools have provided with students the enabling environment to show case their leadership skills as the most distinguished, privileged and favored amongst them are conferred leadership positions in primary school and secondary schools as prefects. They are attached statutory responsibilities with the positions they are given. As expected the school engages them in leadership training and are encouraged to actively participate in politics in the tertiary institutions, as leadership attainment in tertiary institution is more political than capacity and competence.
The tertiary institutions provides different courses that has to do with leadership and thus include

3. Guidance and counseling

4.Sociology

5. Psychology

6. Economics, Business administration and management amongst others

These are courses offered at undergraduate level with statutory responsibility of equipping it’s students on leadership and politics.

Every leadership position involves politics but not every leadership position is political.
In postgraduate level courses ranging from wider spectrum of leadership is offered in school from different types of democracies, different types of rulership alike.

The tertiary education provide platforms for campaigning and elections are conducted on the basis of popularity as the candidate with popular votes emerges victorious.
This, therefore, increases the level of awareness, equips and enlightens the student on the need to engage in politics in other to offer your contributions, service, and quota through the ballots.
By such act, Students are expected to imbibe such fits into the larger outside society in their different fields of endeavors after graduation.

 

Students are also encouraged to contest various political offices in their respective constituencies especially the legislative branch which needs educated people to makes laws that are beneficial to the immediate needs of their communities and mankind at large.

Students during their studies are thought of the need to rally round the educated and competent leaders during electioneering periods.
